I'm a bilingual and bicultural Marriage & Family Therapist licensed in California (MFT No. MJo22107) with 30 years of experience specializing in Family Therapy with an emphasis on the whole family and Individuals. My work begins with a single family member or a couple and I bring in others as the therapy dictates. I also specialize in working with depression, addiction, hospice work, learning disabilities, post-traumatic stress, adolescent/youth and LGBT issues. I'm also an experienced Shamanic Practitioner and Healer.

Dear Readers:

Welcome! Let me introduce myself so that you know something about me as a therapist, a healer and a person. My name is Mercedes Cerna and I am a licensed MFT in California and a Shamanic Healer. I have practiced for 30 years, working with families and individuals in the U.S. and Latin America. I am bilingual and bicultural and I am of Hispanic origin.

My deepest interest and passion is in healing families and individuals. My work with families includes hospice, addiction, marital problems, divorce, gay and lesbian couples, youth at risk and financial loss. My work with individuals focuses on creativity, depression, loss and change.

I recently returned from Costa Rica where I lived and worked with families for over 10 years.

When I am not working as a therapist/healer, I write novels and poetry.
